The difference being, I'll smoke when I want to smoke, whether it be on the beach in Durban or at a party in Troy. Wherever. Not some sheep pen where everyone is expected to comply with what's written in a travel brochure.

Has anyone been to Rotterdam? Can you tell me how it compares to Amsterdam? Going to one or the other this year.

Re: Amsterdam
If you fancy a puff , the mellow yellow is a good place to smoke. Try the small independent coffee shops . If you want a decent nightclub try the Milky Way. It's a floating nightclub in the middle of a river.

Take a look at it - it's astonishing and a great photo opportunity too. Absolutely unique hotel in Zaandam. Backs onto the station and a 15 minute journey into Amsterdam. Highly recommended

But if you want to meet local birds the bars off the side streets by rembrantplan are best. Locals don't go to red light area I don't fucking blame em

Fill your drinking boots here for something different and cultrally dutch.

Great little bar. Not open until late at night... think it's because the drinks are a bit potent and people would be falling over, but lovely warm, cosy atmosphere.

Have the half and half drink. Very nice, and buy yourself a bottle from the shop. Just off Dam Square.

Went last year. Took a tour around the Amsterdam Arena which was excellent.

Also took a trip on the train to Arnhem to take in the anniversary celebrations for Operation Market Garden. Quite expensive but worth it from my perspective. Also, Arnhem was a lovely place too.

Watch out for the bikes though, they're everywhere!

Weirdly the Dutch are on average the tallest people in the world currently, coming in at 6 feet 1 on average...
